Beady-Eyed Bunch!

I downloaded some free instructions for a simple peyote bracelet from Fusion.com. If you are interested in trying it here is the link for the picot edging: http://www.fusionbeads.com/beadingfaq/techniques.php?bfid=105. I downloaded the entire set of directions when it was posted on 5-18-09 and, since it was free, I will be happy to send you a copy. I don't find the directions on the website any longer, just the fringe. The directions include a list of supplies that, amazingly, are all available on Fusion's website! They say you should use a thread burner but that probably wouldn't work well for me. Here are the pictures - I didn't follow the directions exactly on the closing loop - it was too plain.

I made this one using the colors and material in the pattern on line
I used my own material on this one. The first one was too sparkly, this one is much more to my liking.

I won't be making any more of them. It was nice to try a little kit that I didn't make but I got tired of using the same bead for the length of the bracelet. But it was a good change from the usual beaded crochet!

Tish the Adventuress!

I met this young lady three years ago when I began working at my present employer. I have always enjoyed her vivacity, friendliness, and intelligence. Little did I know she was also an adventuress! Unfortunately, I do not have pictures of her mother who dived with her!
Way to go, Mom!

How cool, Tish! And thank you for sharing with me!

Wonder where they are going?
Photobucket

Yep - there she goes!!

Almost home! Tish said the touch down was like sitting gently on the ground.

Beady-Eyed Bunch!

Chrystine - I owe you a big Thank You!
You may recall that I posted this picture and asked if anyone thought the crocheted chain I was starting to make would look good with the turquoise leaf pendant...

I appreciate your advice so much. You wrote to me that the colors looked like they were 'fighting'. And, sure enough, once you mentioned it I saw it. I think it was you who suggested a brown. I found the pattern for the tri-stitch chain in one of my books and tried that. It looks exactly like I had wanted it to look. am happy with the combination now so I had to take pictures and post it here for the Beady-Eyed bunch.

I really don't have a good eye for color and how to mix them together and I appreciate your help. That's why I have to teach other people how to bead so they will be there to help me with colors. Sure do miss Phyllis!

In case some of you are wondering what our 'Remota' beader looks like out there in CA - here is a beautiful picture of her. Thanks for sending it, Chrystine! I hope all is going well with you!

Changing layout - just in case you are wondering.

No - it isn't your eyes. I am wasting productive time by playing around with the blog layout. I really should be doing something else.

I do think I've managed to add a 'comment' section to the right hand side - similar to the one that was on my Comcast webpage - at least I am pretty sure I have done that. Hard to tell at this point. Leave a commentplease, so I can see if it will show up!

And I am making the pictures bigger by uploading them to PhotoBucket and then adding the html to the post instead of uploading directly to Blogger. I like the bigger pictures - I can see them!

The Beady-Eyed Bunch!

I didn't get much accomplished over the holiday weekend but I did get some beading finished.
Now I am practicing inserting some type of bead into the join. Below are two that I did this weekend. One of them is going to be traveling to a dear friend of mine to take up residence with her in FL. She was so kind as to surprise me with a box of beads and jewelry that she no long wore that it seemed only right that she get one of her beads back!

I am still trudging along on a peyote bracelet - I love the colors but work on it only every now and then at this point.

Magic Beans Village

Sybil said that Scott loved the pictures of him and Lacey on this blog. After some discussion with Sybil I decided to post here with information about the organization that has helped Scott become relaxed and comfortable and enjoying his ride.
The organization is called Magic Beans! I visited their home page and they say it much better than I ever could so I am pasting their description here:
http://www.magicbeansvillage.org/
"The Magic Beans Village Foundation, Inc dedicated to providing programs and services for developmentally disabled youth and adults. Our mission is to empower, encourage and enable the lives of those we serve."

One of their programs is the therapeutic riding stables for people like Scott, who is challenged with autism. As you can see below, Scott has benefited from and enjoys his time with the Magic Beans riding stables. How cool is that!?

Thank you, Sybil and Scott, for sharing the pictures and the stables! Any time you can send me pictures they will be posted right here. There is a therapeutic riding stables about a mile from me here in Southern Indiana. Perhaps, if I am able to work from home at some point, I will have the time to visit with them.

Scott and Lacey

Scott and his mother, Sybil, live in Clearwater, FL. I was the lucky recipient of some pictures of Scott riding Lacey last week.

Scott seems to have an easy seat and he and Lacey look like they are having a good time together. Lacey must be a wonderful horse, she and Scott seem to have bonded well. Riding under the Live Oak trees draped with Spanish Moss ---- does it get any better than that? Lacey poses well for the camera doesn't she? Way to go, Scott! You have become a wonderful rider!

Labor Day weekend!

With 3 whole days off! Well - I have to take some on-line classes for work but besides that it's 3 days off!It is beautiful here in Southern Indiana - blue skies, sunshine, gentle breeze, all windows open. So what else would a girl do to celebrate the start of a long weekend?
Wash all of her tennis shoes!

You know you are feeling no pressure when you take the time to wash your tennis shoes. By hand, in the kitchen sink. Can't wait to crawl up on the extension ladder and clean out those gutters.
