One is the loneliest number.....

More snow on the way - to add to the 2-3 inches more we got on Friday. It seems we will get about the same tomorrow evening - New Year's Eve! I will be huddling happily here at home....

Meanwhile, I took the opportunity of a clear day and some decent light to try to capture some of my favorite subjects! These guys just looked lonely today. I took almost 200 shots so there will be more!

Stay safe. If you drink don't drive. If you drive don't drink.  Or text...or look at your iphone....!

Looks like Blizzard 2012 is behind us

Some pictures from this afternoon as I was out shoveling the deck and the yard and getting the birdies food they didn't have to try to chip out of ice and snow.

12:30 p.m. ET - it ain't over

Just saw this on FaceBook - looks like it is going to circle back around and hit Indianapolis.

IndianaWeatherOnline:
All of the snow in Ohio - yes it is moving back West/Northwest. That's why areas across Eastern Indiana that haven't seen huge snowfall amounts yet - you will. Just be patient :) The forecast is right on track with no changes

And a new map! I don't know what it means and I am tired of looking at the darned things but.....well, it's pretty!

Snowsnowsnowsnow

It is a little after 11:00 a.m. EST, we have been getting about 2 inches of snow/hour but it looks light it might lighten up for a bit. The worst of the weather is supposed to be between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. So - well, we have something to look forward to! I still have electric! Hooray!

The bird feeders were frozen and covered with snow this morning. The cardinals, finches, junkos, were digging their little hearts out and getting no where! So I put on my snow boots and waded out to change feeders. But, first, of course, some pictures. I have others but these will do for now. The feeders are in a place that has been kind of protected from the wind so they are wearing little snow caps.

The snow is beautiful and heavy on the branches. I didn't want to get my camera too wet so didn't stay out too long. Maybe after 3 the snow will stop and we will get some good light and I can take some more. Or maybe the branches will start breaking off under the weight. One or the other...

Good morning....fun in the snow

I still have electricity! That is the good news! This is what I woke up to this morning. I have already been out to shovel the deck for the convenience of the 2 small 4-footed beings that allow me to live with them. Deck is now covered back up -apparently we are having an inch an hour of snow.
Here are your flakes, Bob! Pictures from my office window and a picture of what I just shoveled...

Orange?

I have never seen orange on a weather map! This is going to be a special kind of fun!
Orange? No snow yet, no action on the web cam yet. Just Skyped with Arizona Bob - I was very happy to see/talk to him! He was a bit disappointed that there were no flakes to see on the web cam (ok, except for me!). But if orange is any indication - there should be some action in the next 3 hours although I would be happy if this was all a mistake by the weather forecasters. My yard light is motion activated so there's no show at night until flakes start falling or wind starts blowing. Orange?

Blizzard 2012?

Blizzard is what they are saying....over and over and over and over....every news cast, every TV program...scrolling under the picture and over and over....so - maybe there is something to it. Snow here in Southern Indiana, my little town? Perhaps 10-14 inches, icy rain, blowing wind..sigh

For those of you in Florida, Arizona, and California - sit back and enjoy! I have my web cam up and going so you can see what you are missing. Not sure about you, Tennessee (waves at Sybil and Scott).   Kotzebue, Alaska - Carol - I know you are laughing! Not to worry - I still have my Arctic gear, my snow boots, parky, just missing the blue fox hat. Unfortunately, the humidity here in the lower 48 made the fur on the hat fall out.

So here we go!!! Puhlease I hope I don't lose electricity! What will I do with Bubba the Bird, my 20 year old parrot!

One more try Mobile Blogger!

This app isn't all it should be, that's for sure! It tends to freeze and then I lose everything I had already placed in the post! A good thing I learned to do a hard reset on the iPad!

OK - once again.....blah blah blah blah...putting a picture here.....a picture there.....more blah blah....

Here is a new fellow to the feeder! He visited only one day this last Fall, I grabbed the camera and sent the pictures to Patty who did her usual excellent research and found he is an Evening Grossbeak! Apparently related to the red breasted Grossbeak couple who visited last spring.
Pictures aren't that clear but no time for tripod - he was on the move!

I don't know how the pictures will show up - I am putting in 2 of them to see if they will show up in sequence or be all lumped together at the end.

A close up of our fellow:

Pretty guy!

I am going to try, for the 4th time, to post this! Have a safe and happy holiday!

Still practicing with mobile Blogger!

The first post seemed to go well. I can't seem to find a photo editor for iPad that suits my simple needs so am using the native photo editor included. It's ok but not many options for control, can only crop and 'enhance' a bit.
I have learned a new weave and am posting a picture I took today with an iPad. The iPad is not ideal for taking pictures - what a huge thing to hold and try to stay steady while finding the little icon somewhere on the screen.
This is a diagonal weave, very simple and goes very quickly. I am using size 6 and 8 seed beads so that makes it go very fast! And using Fireline, 6 lb test. I made the bracelet in blue and bronze in about 1 1/2 hours yesterday. I just started the pink one this moring.
Here goes another test picture!

Winter - Bah...Humbug.....Testing

I am trying, once again, to learn how to post from an iPad! So - this is test post. The view from my office window yesterday - yep, snow and cold! Greetings to those of you in Arizona and Florida who were watching the horrible weather on my webcam! Wish I was there!
